Welcome to TZ Batiks.com. We are excited to bring to you hand dyed batiks designed by the Miichi (mee-chee) Women’s Group of Tanzania, eastern Africa.  Each piece of TZ BATIKS fabric is one of a kind as they hand dye, design, and draw animals/designs on the fabric.  Some fabrics are created with a stamp technique which the stamp is hand carved from wood or firm sponge. The animal panels and quilt backs are all hand drawn/designed by the artist Pozo, (the only man of the Miichi Women’s Group).

The home of the Miichi (Mee – chee) Women’s Group is the city of Moshi and village Mwika, Tanzania, near the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro.  These are the women who design, batik and tie-dye their own fabrics for sewing and quilting. They love to share the African designs and animals in vibrant colors and batik patterns.  All fabric is 100% cotton, grown and milled in Tanzania.

TZ Batiks offers quilts, wall-hangings, and bags created by Miichi Women’s Group as well as by myself and my daughter, Amy.  Most are created from the batik fabric of Tanzania.  Amy and I do frequent local quilt shops and have a good stash to create quilts from American designers as well.  Feel free to take a look at all quilts in the TZ Batiks Shop and TZ Batiks Gallery.

I can not forget to mention APQS, American Professional Quilting System.  My millennium long arm machine is a big part of my quilting business.  I am also the APQS Representative for North Dakota.  Feel free to contact me for APQS information, specials, and used machines available.

Grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy the fabrics of TZ Batiks.
